Great Barrier Island This is my favourite place in the entire world. Its place that whenever I’m there I truly feel a sense of calm and belonging. I am so lucky to have ancestral ties to the land there..it will always be home. Being only a 30min flight from Auckland, sitting in the Hauraki Gulf I am still so amazed at how many Aucklanders do not know where this island is! ESCAPE THE CITY PEOPLE!!! You have no idea at how much you are missing out on in your own backyard. I have such a great love for this place, whenever I come back from a weekend there I feel rejuvinated, clear headed and inspired. It’s no wonder most, if not all the permanent residents of the island are eccentric characters. Each one of them have the most amazing life stories as to how they came to living on such an isolated place. They are creative, earthy, real and wonderful. So if you’re an artist/dancer/photographer/muso/all of the above, looking to escape and get inspired I advise you to visit the barrier ASAP. You will not be disappointed. Hey - I may even be able to hook you up with a good place to stay. Expect more photos/stories about the Barrier..its such a huge part of my life. Chur.

Okay so it ain’t a secret that I like to get my nerd on when it comes to comics. There’s something so appealing about having superpowers to serve the greater good..So I’m pretty critical when it comes to comic book movies. I’ve been looking forward to watching Avengers for some time now. Went and saw it on ANZAC day with 6 of my friends and was not disappointed! My friends are still talking about the movie because it had something to offer everyone - plenty of witty humour, action for the boys and of course buff superhero perving for the girls.  Kudos Joss Whendon for not killing one of the most anticipated Marvel comic book movies to date!
